SATO unveils a whole new class of powerful and intelligent barcode printers

SATO, a leader in barcode printing since introducing the first thermal transfer barcode printer in 1981, today announced the launch of its latest industrial printer, the GT Series direct thermal/thermal transfer printers. The GT is positioned as the premium class of the e series (which features speed enhanced industrial printers) and is SATOs fourth new printer in three years.

SATO's new GT 4-inch printers employ a 32-bit high-speed RISC for maximum throughput and they can print large quantities of labels containing barcode, text and detailed graphics with sharp and precise print image; and with a 609dpi printhead installed, smaller size 2-D codes such as Micro PDF417, Micro QR, etc. are produced with excellent machine legibility.

In addition, the GT is the most intelligent printer in its class. Featuring the exclusive SATO Embedded Basic Language (SEMBL), it offers the users the option of loading customized programs into the printer, allowing users to generate complicated label formats without any connection to an external PC. In addition, the GT also features an automatic detection system that detects any printhead change. This helps users to change print resolution selection easily: 203 dpi, 305 dpi or 609 dpi.

I believe that this is a winning model for SATO. The GT is not just another extension of a printer class; rather, with its advance features and performance, we feel that it will create an entirely new printer class. This printer will definitely raise the bar for all the other industrial printers in the market. With a printing speed of 300 mm (12 inches) per second and offering flexible options such as a choice of printheads and using SEMBL to provide unlimited user customizations, the GT is truly in a league of its own. said Mr. T. Waki, Managing Director, SATO International.

In addition, the printer has been developed with user-friendliness in mind. This is evident in the printers unique mechanism which greatly reduces ribbon wrinkling. And, because of the design of the print heads, any user can effectively switch the printheads to suit different situations. All these, SATO believes, will greatly benefit our customers, added Mr. Waki.

Optional interface modules include serial communication module, parallel communication module, USB ver1.1 and Wire/Wireless LAN (802.11b) support. The GT printers are also equipped with WPC Plus (Web-based Printer Control Plus) which is SATO's new tool for controlling SATO thermal transfer barcode printers via any web-enabled wired or wireless device.

The new GT printers from SATO are fast, intelligent and very affordable for today's demanding labeling applications. They will be made available from 17 January, 2005.
