This unique hot backup plug-in is compatible with the company's flagship product Arkeia Network Backup, as well as Arkeia Server Backup. It allows Arkeia backup solutions to protect the database without interrupting PostgreSQL services.
The online backup is easily configured through the Arkeia graphical user interface that provides single click selection of the databases to be backed up or restored on the PostgreSQL server.
"Offering this first complete online backup for PostgreSQL databases is in line with our historic commitment to the Linux community," said Phil Roussel, Arkeia CEO. "We're well known among industry professionals for supporting advances in Linux technology. This hot backup PostgreSQL plug-in continues that tradition."
In anticipation of the upcoming PostgreSQL v8 release, Arkeia also announced its planned support of Point-in-Time recovery features which will be introduced with the next PostgreSQL version.
Compatible with PostgreSQL 7.2 and above, this Arkeia plug-in will initially be available for Linux, with other operating systems to follow.
