New Keyboard Converter Enhances Intermec Smart Printing Technology

Intermec has further enhanced the flexibility of implementation and ease of use of its smart printing range with the launch of its Keyboard Converter accessory. The Keyboard Converter allows data entry direct to Intermec smart printers with a standard or industrial style keyboard.

This accessory facilitates the use of a standard PS/2 PC keyboard for standalone printing applications with Intermec EasyCoder series bar code label, ticket and RFID tag printers. Intermec standalone printers act as smart clients, eliminating the need for a PC, which minimises communication overhead and network congestion. Intermec smart printers can run without any connection to information systems, making it possible to input alphanumeric data to complete variable fields for labels before printing. These printers can operate additional hardware and interface with the host system to access and update appropriate label information, while retaining the ability to adapt to changing host environments and applications.

The Keyboard Converter is compatible with Intermec EasyCoder PF2i, PF4i, PF4ci, PM4i, and PX printers operating with Fingerprint programming language. The accessory converts output for any PS/2 keyboard to RS232C data. Users can also program hot keys for immediate transactions.
