"Datalogic RFID: the new frontier of automatic identification? From manufacturing to logistics - success stories and outlook" is the event which Datalogic, the largest European manufacturer of bar code readers, mobile computers and RFID systems, is organising for 24th November, which will be held during Genoa European Capital of Culture 2004, in the exhibition called "Per fili e per segni. Ingegno italiano e societ dell'informazione."
A modern city with many vocations, attentive to cultural tendencies as well as research and technology, Genoa - an Italian city at the top of the Ligurian Sea, on the northernmost point of the western Mediterranean - offers a programme of high level manifestations for 2004, that range from the ancient to the present-day, from the re-discovery of bygone places to advanced research. Amongst these is the exhibition called "Per fili e per segni. Ingegno italiano e societ dell'informazione" an exhaustive picture illustrating technologies, people, instruments and ideas which have marked the technical evolution of Italy in ICT.
Among the technologies that are most talked about today for their innovative nature and ability to revolutionise, RFID stands out without doubt as being one of the most forefront identification systems.
To be able to offer a comprehensive overview on RFID, Datalogic, a company which is operative in the RFID market since 1988 when it acquired EMS Inc (Escort Memory Systems, Scotts Valley, California) has organised this seminar called "Datalogic RFID: The new frontier of automatic identification? From manufacturing to logistics - success stories and outlook."
On 24th November, from 14:30 to 18:00 in Hall D of the Fiera del Mare of Genoa, it will be possible to learn about the opportunities that RFID technology offers by analysing case studies and by means of presentations by authoritative testimonials.
There will be case studies on RFID applications implemented in important companies worldwide in the areas of automotive, logistics and food and meat processing, such as Toyota, General Motors, Fiat and Harley Davidson. In particular, a case history on the Italian Post Office will be presented by Elsag, one of the few operators worldwide that supplies complete solutions for the needs of modern postal administration.
During the meeting Datalogic's customers will also intervene, as they have been invited to describe their experiences connected with the implementation of RFID solutions from Datalogic/EMS in their companies and the benefits achieved, as well as authoritative consultants such as Mr Vantellini of IBM, Mr Gillott, Philips Semiconductors and Mr Azzali of Logistic Consulting who will put their know-how on RFID at the disposal of the participants.
With this event, Datalogic aims to offer a qualified and comprehensive overview of RFID, by analysing the added value provided by applications based on RFID technology in the fields of manufacturing and logistics, comparing bar codes with RFID technology, examining the possibilities of integrating both technologies and future outlooks, and evaluating the strategic, economic, technological and organisational impact of using RFID technology.
