SEBEV Search and Rescue (SEBEV SAR) is a registered charity and has been providing services to the United Kingdom's Berkshire community since 1980. The main functions of the team are to assist the Thames Valley Police in the search for missing persons (such as children and the elderly) in Berkshire and the surrounding counties, and also to provide support for the local authorities and the statutory emergency services during civil emergencies in the area.

SEBEV is made up wholly of volunteers who manage their time with SEBEV around work and family commitments.

They have their own fully equipped Incident Control Vehicle, plus all equipment necessary for rescue and First Aid purposes. All volunteers carry SEBEV identification cards in order to ensure they are allowed timely access to search areas.

In an effort to update its identification system for volunteers and team members, SEBEV wanted to produce rugged, durable ID cards that would withstand use in all weather and terrain conditions. The cards also need to look professional and have built-in security features. Their old card printer just wasn't up to the task.

"We approached a number of manufacturers and Zebra and their Elite Partner Blazepoint were the most helpful," explained Daryl Toogood of SEBEV. "They offered an all-round sponsorship package, whereas others were just able to sell us a printer at a discounted price and not an after-sales service.

SEBEV wanted a space-saving printer that could run on a Windows-powered laptop and prints clear text, graphics and photos on plastic ID cards. The charity chose the Zebra P310 printer. Its the worlds most popular card printer. The team now has a dependable, flexible system on which it can rely.

The organization uses Zebra TrueColor Ribbons for crisp and improved image quality and Nfives Card5 plastic card design software for its powerful imaging features facilitating layout of the card, database connectivity and instant printing.

The Zebra P310 provides us with a professional-looking, hard-wearing, durable ID card that our members will be able to carry with them everyday, reports Toogood.

The Zebra P310 Card Printer

The standalone P310 prints sharp, readable bar codes, ID photos, graphics and text, edge-to-edge, in seconds. Its easy-to-load, low maintenance design makes it simple for anyone to operate. Green, yellow and red LED indicators provide easy-to-understand printer status. Printer ribbon synchronization is automatic, eliminating the need for operator intervention. An easy to change, self-cleaning cartridge thoroughly removes dust before printing, minimizing missing dots and color registration problems.
