Geac has announced a UK reseller agreement with NRJ Consulting, a Microsoft Business Intelligence partner specialising in the public sector, for Geac MPC software, part of the Geac Performance Management product family.

Geac Performance Management is an integrated product line that helps organisations improve their effectiveness by tightening the link between strategy formulation and operational execution. It enables organisations to streamline processes, facilitate forecasting and enable better decision making through multiple scenario planning.

NRJ Consulting has been selected as a Geac partner for the local government sector due to its four-year pedigree as a Microsoft Business Intelligence partner dedicated to the public sector. In that time NRJ Consulting has already completed successful projects with The Home Office, CPS (Criminal Prosecution Services) as well as a number of local authorities.

Pete Renson, director of NRJ Consulting, said:
Many local authorities recognise the mounting need to have greater accountability and corporate governance at a top level, whilst better managing their assets and providing best value services to the general public. Instead of trying to manage these by looking retrospectively they really need to look forward by developing strategic plans for improvement and continually monitoring their perforance. Although Balanced Scorecards have had some effect in monitoring some aspects of public sector activity, local authority management now really need integrated performance management solutions to drive performance at every level of their organisation. To meet this increasing demand, authorities requirecommercial off-the-shelf solutions, like Geacs MPC, which can be easily tailored to their specific needs.

In 2004, several UK government entities have already begun implementing Geac Performance Management including Luton Borough Council and The Learning & Skills Council. Other Geac products - including System21, SmartStream, E Series and M Series - also have a strong and loyal base of customers in the UK public sector.

Gwyn Roberts, senior business consultant for the UK public sector for Geac Performance Management, comments:
The UK public sector presents many challenges, particularly at this time of great change for local authorities in the UK. The combination of increased competition for funding from Central Government and growing efforts to meet the 2005 e-government deadline has led to more and more pressure being placed on local authorities and public sector organisations. Geac Performance Management software simplifies the budgeting process and produces detailed Performance Indicator reports, allowing more time and resources to be focused on achieving strategic priorities.
