Engenio Opens Up New Storage Management Solution for Windows

Engenio Information Technologies, Inc., formerly LSI Logic Storage Systems, Inc., today announced a solution for storage administrators to simplify provisioning and managing storage resources in Windows Server 2003 environments using QLogics SANsurfer VDS Manager software.

Engenio and QLogic have collaborated to integrate the Engenio VDS Provider with the QLogic SANsurfer VDS Manager application for Microsoft Windows Server 2003. SANsurfer functions as a graphical software foundation for allocating and administering storage in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 environment. VDS is a new storage infrastructure defined by Microsoft for managing storage resources and allowing networked storage resources to be "carved up" and made available for use in Windows Server 2003 and its applications, such as the QLogic SANsurfer Management software.

"We are pleased to be working with Engenio to help Windows administrators seamlessly manage their networked storage," said Claude Lorenson, product manager, storage technologies at Microsoft Corp. "The VDS Provider from Engenio addresses our customers storage need to dynamically allocate and monitor storage from within an application."

"Our vision of next-generation storage technology is affordable, reliable, and vendor neutral," said Frank Berry, vice president of marketing, QLogic Corp. "We are pleased to begin the process by working with Engenio to spearhead a way to manage disk arrays that provides tremendous price, management and performance benefits."

"The Engenio VDS Provider is an ideal way for customers using Microsoft applications to simplify the access and management of data in a dynamic environment," said Joel McGill, Engenio Director of Alliances.
