Symbol Technologies, Inc., The Enterprise Mobility Company, has introduced the Symbol LS 3408 family of advanced data capture products. Symbol's new long-range industrial scanning line is targeted to inventory and asset management applications in the manufacturing, warehouse and "ruggedised" retail market segments.
Designed to capture hard-to-reach critical information, the Symbol LS 3408 product line, which includes the LS 3408-ER and the LS 3408-FZ, delivers high-performance, real-time data capture capability to improve worker productivity, customer service and enterprise profitability.

The Symbol LS 3408 series is well-suited for shop floor management, inventory control, asset tracking, document control, and line operations. In the warehouse, the new product family can handle inventory ordering and replenishment, order processing, shipping and receiving and fork lift applications. For home improvement, retail centres, and wholesale clubs, Symbol's data capture solutions enable mobile point-of-sale applications.
Differentiated Features
The Symbol LS 3408 products are highly ruggedised, feature a new industrial design and support reduced space symbology applications and signature capture. These new devices can withstand multiple 6.5ft (2M) drops to concrete and are IP65 compliant for sealing against water and dust.
The Symbol LS 3408-FZ features Symbol's best 1D scanning range and premium Fuzzy Logic scanning performance on all types of 1D bar codes (including poorly printed and low contrast). The device can read bar codes from near contact to seven feet away (55Mil bar code).
The Symbol LS 3408-ER can scan a bar code (100Mil) up to 45 feet away, setting a new standard for data capture range on the market. In addition, the aiming pattern makes it user friendly at these long distances.
The Symbol LS 3408 series features multi-interface connectivity with support for RS-232, USB (Standard USB and USB II compatibility), scanner emulation, synapse and keyboard wedge.
