Minec 4x - a New Datalogic Professional Mobile Computer with Windows CE Operating System

The Minec 4x from Datalogic is an ergonomic, lightweight and rugged terminal offering a unique combination of flexibility, reliability and ease of use for professional data capture and communication. It has a standard Microsoft Windows CE Operating System that provides end users a familiar user interface, based on icons, drop-down menus and windows, and programmers a well-known environment for simpler application development and management.

Program development is provided by Windows CE standard tools (in either Visual Basic or C++ languages) so that any solution can be quickly developed according to the end-users needs. Furthermore, local fonts can be loaded and customisations made according to the specific features of the operating zone.

To take advantage of all the benefits of complete mobility both in small and large areas, the Minec 4x supports the most common wireless data transfer technology (Wi-Fi) by an integrated standard WLAN IEEE 802.11b wireless compact flash card for real-time radio communication with the Host System.

When the Minec 4x is connected to any Wi-Fi compliant WLAN infrastructure, it can be immediately associated to any Warehouse Management System/Legacy System with the DL-TCL for CE, Datalogics terminal emulator software that supports both VT100/220 and IBM5250 standards.

Models equipped with a laser barcode reader can decode all most commonly used 1D bar codes with very good reading performance, while the Minec 4x models equipped with a RFID HF-ISO module (13.56 MHz), can read/write RFID tags at an operating range of up to 10 cm.

16MB Ram and 32MB Flash memory are installed on the Minec 4x, which can use the BACKUP directory (also called PSM - Persistent Storage Memory), to save data and file system information on the Flash (non-volatile) memory and avoid losing user data in the case of HW reset (or battery down/failure). As an option, the standard Compact Flash card slot can be used to add up to 512MB with a common memory card.

The Minec 4x has a graphic 1/8 VGA LCD display with 240x160 pixels, EL-backlight and adjustable display contrast, so that text and graphics are very easy to read, and up to 20 lines with 30 characters can be displayed. Any font size and type can be shown as well as icons and symbols in 16 grey levels. The practical 27-key backlit alphanumeric keyboard makes data entry easy: both letters and numbers can be entered with just one press of a finger.

To solve both simple and complex applications the Minec 4x has a good combination of characteristics: ergonomics, light weight, industry standard robustness and reliability such as 1.5 m drop resistance, IP64 protection against water and dust and -20 to +55 C operating temperature. In addition, a fully charged battery pack is able to support very challenging applications that require intensive use of the terminal, with an autonomy of more than one work shift.

The Minec 4x hand-held computer from Datalogic is specifically designed for professional data collection with a wide range of models to satisfy both bar code data capture and challenging RFID applications such as warehouse management, goods shipping and receiving, picking and inventory control.
