UNIQUE ID WINS CONTRACT WITH ANC, USING HHP

Unique ID - the High Wycombe-based company that specialises in bar code solutions - has won a contract for bar code scanners from ANC Limited, one of the UKs major logistics companies. The scanners are HHPs IMAGETEAM 4800s, chosen for the speed and consistency with which they can decode PDF417 bar codes.

ANC is based in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire, and specialises in express delivery services throughout the UK and the rest of the world. Some of the consignments it delivers dont have a customer manifest. Previously, data on the consignments had to be entered manually, which was very time-consuming. ANC therefore started looking for bar code scanners that could scan the PDF417 code on the label attached to each consignment.

After trying different products, the company consulted Unique ID, which is one of HHPs prestigious Power Partners. Unique recommended HHPs IMAGETEAM 4800 PDF scanners. The IT4800 was the first hand held area imager to be powered by HHPs innovative Adaptus .tm imaging technology. HHPs products are ideal for all courier companies involved in the shipping of parcels and packages.

ANC subsequently purchased 120 of the scanners. Dean Hughes, ANCs Programme Manager, explains: The IT4800s decoding speed was the most important factor, along with its consistency in achieving successful scans. We tried many other scanners, but they were slower or required more than one attempt to decode successfully.

The scanners have now been operational for some time. Dean Hughes remarks: The HHP units have been performing very well so far. Although they are only used for consignments that have no manifest, they are saving a significant amount of time and trouble compared with our previous manual inputting system.
