Elegant designer clothing store uses Toshiba to reduce mark-down time
03 October 2007

Manchester-based women's designer outlet, Eleganza Limited in partnership with Concept Labelling Solutions have announced the introduction of a new price markdown system.

Eleganza was keen to reduce the time taken to carry out in store price markdowns.  The existing manual process was time consuming and often took a day to complete with staff working through the store with marker pens, spreadsheets, and blank reduction labels/tags.

The company, which already used TOSHIBA printers throughout the business, approached long term suppliers Concept Labelling Solutions for a solution to their requirements for a new price markdown system which they could pilot in a number of stores nationwide.

"Our experience with TOSHIBA's products has always been positive so when Concept Labelling Solutions suggested we consider TOSHIBA'S B-SP2D to meet our requirement for a new price markdown system we decided that it was a natural choice for this pilot " said  Eric Power, Eleganza Limited.

The TOSHIBA B-SP2D is a mobile printer which is linked to an Opticon Bluetooth barcode reader and an XDA.  The new system allows Eleganza's head office to send a list of all items to be reduced to each of the participating stores XDA terminals overnight. In the morning staff are able to scan the barcode on the existing price label, if the item has been reduced the B-SP2D automatically prints a tamper-proof reduction label which also includes the price history of the item.

This new technology, which is currently being piloted by area managers, will, if successful, be rolled out to the company's 160 nationwide stores and concessions.  A similar system is also being trialled in the company's warehouses to control stock.

"Feedback from our staff has been very positive" adds Eric, Eleganza Limited "the time savings that we are already seeing have been a huge benefit"
