SATO Introduces New Label Printers with PCL Command
10 September 2004
SATO International Pte. Ltd. (SI), a holding company for SATO Corporation’s overseas sales offices, today announced the launch of two new models of barcode label printers equipped with Printer Control Language (PCL) capabilities, the CT400/410 and the CT420.
Developed originally by Hewlett-Packard, PCL is essential in a networked environment, as it will enable applications to control the SATO label printers in a similar way to regular office printers.
The high quality CT420 has a print resolution of 600dpi, which allows it to print sharp and detailed pictures, characters and text. The CT400 and 410, by adopting a high-speed interface and high functionality CPU, are able to achieve significant improvement on total throughput. The CT400 and 410 models have print head resolution of 200 and 300 dpi respectively.
“These printers are widely recognized by users for not only their high speed but also for their smart and compact design, making them the printer of choice for work areas with space constraints,” said Mr. T. Waki, SATO International’s Managing Director. “With the launch of these PCL enabled printer, SATO has once again achieved a new level of label printing standard in the AIDC industry.”
In Japan, these printers have already been widely adopted in various areas of business, from offices (to print labels for business administration purposes) to amusement parks (for printing admission tickets). The CT400/410 printers are also being used in hospitals and pharmacies (to print labels for patient’s clinical records, prescriptions and wristbands).
“In hospitals, hundreds of patients are checked in daily, and human error is inevitable. With the CT400/410 printer, it is possible for hospitals to print in real-time the patient’s brief medical history onto his wristband and this has greatly helped our clients to manage patient records and consequently reduce human errors”, added Mr. Waki.
