New major developments for the Evolis PEB3LE printer

The Evolis PEB3LE color card printer now integrates two brand new features aimed at opening new market opportunities: multiple encoding configurations and card by card manual feeding.

Since the successful launch of the Pebble 3rd generation at the end of 2004, Evolis has developed numerous additional features, including the capability to support multiple encoding, i.e. magnetic, smart, contact and contactless within a single printer. Another feature is the new card by card manual feeding which makes the Pebble the perfect product for all front desk applications.

Multiple encoding configurations

New technologies such as contact and contactless smart cards are developing, especially on access control, banking, and loyalty markets. Application software, readers and encoders will evolve to suit new technology needs.

Aiming to replace magnetic cards in the coming years, new smart card technologies will require a smooth transition of the installed base. Interoperability of both magnetic and smart technologies is a must to protect former investments and allow end-users to upgrade to higher-featured cards.

Therefore, Evolis designed combined encoding solutions aiming to support such a smooth migration path and allow ‘All in one shot’ card issuance: magnetic stripe, contact smart chip, and proximity chip.

Evolis unveils a clever manual card feeder for its PEB3LE card printer

From May 2005, the Pebble integrates a brand new manual card feeder that perfectly suits the needs for ‘on the spot’ card issuance, at a counter, a cashier or front-desk.

Evolis R&D engineers developed a fully integrated manual card feeder option, as an alternative to the 100 card feeder box. It is put in place of the regular card feeder and perfectly fits the printer design and style.

Card detection, as well as a motorized card insertion, provides efficient and user-friendly features beyond compare. To set it up, special commands have been developed to select one or the other feeding mode.

This provides the end-user with superior features for added-value applications such as cash cards and loyalty programs that require data encoding.
