Calor to enhance fuel delivery with TouchPC Kestrel
June 30, 2008

With over 70 years of experience, Calor Gas is a UK market leader in the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). As part of the worldwide SHV Group, they operate the largest LPG delivery fleet within the United Kingdom supplying to hundreds of thousands of consumers and businesses nationwide.

Calor’s forward looking culture ensures that they are continually developing, enhancing and extending their product range which now powers a variety of applications including:

  • Domestic central heating and cooking
  • Commercial heating and water heating systems
  • Catering equipment
  • All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)
  • Weed burning, crop desiccation, crop drying and livestock rearing equipment
  • Road vehicles – Autogas
  • Forklift trucks
  • Groundcare equipment and golf cars
  • Patio heaters, barbecues and generators

Calor’s ‘total quality’ approach recently involved the successful upgrade of the “Calor Cylinder” fuel delivery system.

Continuing their longstanding relationship with leading mobile computing specialist Touchstar Technologies, Calor have upgraded their existing mobile computer system to the newly developed TouchPC Kestrel. With the incorporation of Touchstar’s powerful Fuel Delivery Software, the Kestrel further enhances Calor’s operations with integrated satellite navigation system and GPRS online mobile data communications.

Alongside Touchstars excellent ongoing customer support, the tough yet versatile TouchPC Kestrel was chosen for its simple ergonomic design, enhanced functionality and reliability. The successful implementation has given Calor greater visibility and control of their fuel delivery operation in line with their core values. This will see further rollouts of the technology through the course of 2008.
