Ann Summers provides Valentine's Day pleasure to the nation thanks to Masternaut innovation
February 14, 2008

Ann Summers, the UK lingerie and adult novelties company, has selected the cutting-edge web-based satellite tracking service from Masternaut Three X for its entire fleet of delivery vehicles.

The online telematics service gives real time visibility of the company's fleet and enables it to pinpoint the movements of individual vehicles, which greatly improves customer service right down to the point of home delivery, thus increasing operating efficiencies and reducing costs.

"Masternaut Three X will provide us with a wide range of benefits and a wealth of information to help us improve customer service in particular home delivery. It gives us the ability to cut through any grey areas. Furthermore, it is helping us to identify duty of care issues such as ensuring that our drivers are taking breaks and so on," says Mick O'Neil, Transport and Fleet Manager, Ann Summers.

To celebrate the new partnership with Ann Summers, Masternaut Three X will take receipt of 130 Ann Summers catalogues and gift vouchers, one for each of its employees, as Valentine's Day gifts for its staff. The catalogues will be transported to the company's head office in Aberford, Leeds, under the careful watch of the Masternaut tracking system.

The Masternaut web-based vehicle tracking service uses satellite positioning (GPS) to establish the location of each of vehicle within the Ann Summers fleet. This information is then automatically transmitted via high-speed mobile communication technology (GPRS) to a central server. The real time position of every vehicle is displayed using Microsoft MapPoint® online street mapping over a secure connection using any web-enabled PC or handheld device, with minute-by-minute vehicle activity reports delivered automatically by e-mail to Ann Summers fleet management team.

Ann Summers operates 134  stores throughout the UK and has a thriving on-line business supplying a wide range of products, including lingerie, books, DVDs and novelties.
