Canon launches new DR-2580C
27 June 2006

Following its successful launch in 2005, Canon UK, leader in digital imaging technology, has today announced it has launched the latest version of its compact DR-2580C document scanner, now with a new A5 flatbed option.

Created for businesses or organisations that need to capture data for identification purposes and general business use, including passport control, banking and leisure sectors - like Hotels and car rental  companies – the DR-2580C provides versatile, reliable and cost-effective scanning for all types of documents.

To ensure that users are able to scan a range of documents from passports to invoices, the DR-2580C’s versatility means that there are flatbed and paper feed options which now cater for both A4 and A5 paper sizes, as well as a range of lengths, from 7cm right up to 100cm.  In addition, paper feeding has been made even more efficient with the inclusion of Ultrasonic Double Feed Detection, which prevents the loss of images and allows the user to scan batch documents quickly and reliably.

Glen Mason, Head of Office Marketing, Canon UK & Ireland, says: “At Canon we don’t believe in standing still when it comes to product development, we believe in innovating and ensuring we develop products that match customer needs. The new DR-2580C reflects this, as well as the increasing need for businesses to capture data for identification purposes. The product has been a huge success for Canon to date and we believe the versatile nature of the scanner means it will continue to be for some time to come.”

The DR-2580C comes with Canon’s CapturePerfect 3.0 and Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard. Both can be used with a wide range of document management software.

The DR-2580C is available from Canon distributors – Headway and Dicom – now.  The DR-2580C’s RRP is £680 (ex VAT) whilst adding the A5 flatbed option costs an additional £310 (ex VAT).
