New KODAK i4000 Series Scanners
 March 08, 2010

Kodak has launched KODAK i4000 Series Scanners which are designed to help end-users, especially those in small-to-medium sized businesses (SMBs), cost-effectively automate document capture and management. The new capture platform combines walk-up ease of use, one touch scanning, comprehensive software capabilities and simplified integration within new or existing document management processes to offer a complete information management solution.

The KODAK i4200 Scanner and KODAK i4600 Scanner will be available for demonstration along with the new KODAK Capture Pro Software version 2.5 (see separate press release) at CeBIT, stand E30 Hall 3 from March 2-6, 2010 in Hannover, Germany.

The i4000 Series Scanners compact, ergonomic design makes it easier for end-users to effectively integrate document capture into new and existing information-driven business processes. Kodak’s Smart Touch functionality allows digital documents to be sent to common destinations including e-mail, desktop applications, shared file locations and Microsoft SharePoint Server. The i4000 Series Scanners also provide flexible, dual-support for Kodak’s Perfect Page Image Processing Technology or Kofax VRS Software.

KODAK Capture Pro Software version 2.5 provides users Microsoft Windows 7 compatibility along with improvements to OCR capability, auto import and indexing to name a few.

Tony Barbeau, General Manager, Document Imaging, Kodak’s Business Solutions and Services Group, said, “With so many SMBs still dependent on paper documents, the easy-to-use architecture of the i4000 Series Scanners represents a strategic first-step for any business working to remain competitive in the information economy.”

The i4200 Scanner and i4600 Scanner serve as true production-level entry points able to process images of 200 dots per inch (dpi) bi-tonal scanning quality at rated speeds of 100 pages per minute (ppm) and 120 ppm respectively.

The i4000 Series is also the only scanner series in its class to offer a c-shape transport with additional straight-through paper path, 500-sheet feeder, while offering field speed and feature upgrades to adjust for growing volumes of documents and continuous enhancement of the solution.

A feature provided for the first time on a Kodak scanner is Sure Stack. This enables users to scan mixed documents at high speed while still keeping them neatly sorted in the output tray which helps to significantly improve post scanning processes.

John Cauvel from Lifetime Assistance Inc – a pilot installation – confirms, "The KODAK i4600 Scanner has proven to be an extremely easy-to-use production scanner for both experienced operators and occasional users.  It streamlines everything, even paper preparation, providing us with efficiency gains. A lot of our work entails capturing multiple page non-carbon or popularly called NCR forms. These thin multi-page documents arrive in various states of readability and processability. The scanner with its associated image enhancement and paper transport has handled these without capture errors and without the need to rescan due to misfeeds."

The KODAK i4000 Series Scanners will be available for shipping in April 2010. The i4200 Scanner will be priced at €9,995 and the i4600 Scanner will be offered at €13,995.
