Xerox’s EIP platform grows as Paper River expands into Europe
 October 09, 2008

Xerox partnership with Paper River and EIP application deliver new sales opportunities

Xerox Alliance Partner, Paper River, a Hertfordshire-based software solutions company, is expanding into Europe as it experiences growing demand for its business intelligence and business process services.  Paper River has been approached by several of Xerox’s European EIP partners to work with them to integrate the company’s flagship software – Flowmatrix – with their own solutions and help customers create intelligent workflow systems to support business processes. The company is expanding its relationships to include companies in Benelux, Germany and Switzerland and plans to expand its operations across the rest of Europe in the next year.

Eric Gee, Paper River’s managing director, said:  “Europe’s become very important for us and we’re already working with companies Xerox and Hyperwave to develop business process solutions for mutual customers. We’ve established a good solid customer base amongst government, legal, education and other vertical industry sectors.  We’re expanding rapidly so Europe is a natural progression and the partnership with Xerox has already opened the continental door wider for us.”

Paper River’s flagship software - ‘FlowMatrix Revolution BPS’ - allows organisations to optimise the management of information through efficient, secure and audited business process automation. FlowMatrix connects MFP devices, client desktops and core business applications through a rules-based workflow engine and client collaboration tools. The FlowMatrix Hyperwave Xerox EIP integration is the first and only distributed capture tool to provide fully personalised bi-directional scanning in the market.

Said Gee:  “A practical example of how our solutions work is perhaps a customer complaint letter arriving into the service or support department.  The appropriate employee can go to the MFP and our software will ‘intelligently’ scan that document for pre-programmed keywords or phrases.  We can then route that document to the right place, based on the letter’s contents, and even send email alerts to whoever needs to know about it.  That’s only one example, but our software can apply that intelligence to any paper-based document.  Xerox’s EIP is a brilliant platform and has been very easy for us to develop on.

“There are so many exciting things happening in this market today, and Xerox’s EIP platform is one of those developments.  We had to take a more open market approach in order to make the most of new opportunities both in the UK and the rest of Europe,” said Gee.

Paper River became a Xerox Alliance Partner in 2007 and soon after integrated the company’s flagship Flowmatrix software with EIP.  Said Gee: “We only made contact with Xerox a year ago and we’ve never had to expand so rapidly with any other partner.”

Talking about industry trends, Eric Gee suggests that advances in MFP technology have provided a breakthrough in software applications development.  “A few years ago there wasn’t a great desire to integrate MFPs to back-end business process systems and that was partly down to MFP technology capability,” he said.  “It’s only recently that the MFP has become a robust and sustainable platform for data capture and processing applications.  Now customers are moving away from a purely centralised model to a distributed one – and demanding more MFP integration with applications that can enable and facilitate business processes.”
