Varlink announces the release of the OPN-2002 bluetooth data collector
December 08, 2009

Varlink, the York based mobile computing and data capture specialist distributor is delighted to introduce Opticon’s OPN-2002, the Bluetooth version of the existing OPN-2001.

Small and extremely lightweight, this data collector is embedded with a class leading laser barcode scanner capable of 100 scans/sec.  This device conveniently combines barcode data collection and Bluetooth capability for wireless connection and real-time communication.

With a memory of 1MB in batch mode, the OPN-2002 is capable of storing more than 25,000 barcodes. The device enables storage of collected barcodes which can be transmitted by cable or Bluetooth. IP42 rated, the OPN-2002 is rugged, durable and with a weight of less than 30 grams, is truly pocketable.

The OPN-2002 also allows for data to be downloaded through custom applications which can be developed utilising the free of charge SDK available. For direct transmission that removes the need for third party software, the HID interface will fit immediate wireless transfer needs. On occasions where Bluetooth is not provided, the USB port enables cabled data transfer.

Charging the OPN-2002 is possible by using the dedicated USB cable or alternatively a 10 slot cradle is available to charge multiple units; the cradle can also be utilised for wired communication to a PC.

Sarah Esders, Varlink Marketing Executive, commented “We have had seen great levels of interest around the OPN-2001 and expect the OPN-2002 to be just as well received within the channel especially with the added capability of Bluetooth. It is an ideal mobility partner for connecting to Bluetooth enabled devices such as PDAs, rugged laptops, tablet PC’s and clinical assistants providing a low cost solution for adding scanning capabilities to non-scanning devices”.
