International POS printer manufacturer Star Micronics has used its significant expertise in printer design and technology to develop a new revolutionary, feature-rich matrix printer.

It offers not only reliability and high performance but also a range of unique features most recently developed for its latest thermal printer.

With extensive experience within the matrix printer market Star has designed a high speed, 9-pin high quality matrix printer capable of printing up to 8.7 lps.  This equates to 13 x 20 line receipts per minute based on Star’s new standard in print speed measurement (RPM).

The SP700 is capable of fast high quality mono or two colour output using any one of the 50 included character sets with the lowest running costs any technology can offer.  With its easy-load ‘Drop-In & Print’ design the printer has a full or partial cutter and will also include features from the unique, ground breaking software provided with the TSP100 futurePRNT. Tools initially included feature a new Graphics Management Tool for easily downloading images.  Additional features will include a Marketing Coupon Tool as well as a variety of software and compatibility tools.

To further enhance the features of this printer Star has re-designed its paper loading system and has provided a see-through window to enable the user to visually judge the amount of paper in addition to the printer’s sensors.

As Simon Martin, Director and General Manager, Star Micronics Europe, states, “Star Micronics has used its significant experience and expertise to develop a high quality, reliable matrix printer designed to withstand the most robust of environments.  Furthermore, by integrating a number of unique and additional features the SP700 is, without doubt, the most sophisticated and feature-rich matrix printer available today.”

In either horizontal or vertical position, the SP700 has the smallest footprint in its class highlighting its space saving properties.  With a new splash resistant design for robust kitchen/bar use, an internal power supply and universal cable together with interfaces that can be changed according to system upgrades, the SP700 is a highly versatile printer.
